The Game Plan Seminar Concern # 3
Today we address the third most popular question sent in by our readers:
How to approach a girl who is moving towards us or away from us, i.e., “moving sets?”
First of all, let’s consider why a moving girl seems more difficult to approach.
Is it a physical reason? Maybe, since according to Newton’s first law (or is it second? I never remember) objects in motion will tend to stay in motion.
But imagine that you were sitting in a café and through the window you see your best friend, who happens to be 350 pounds, walking at a distance, either towards you or away from you.
Would it really be so physically difficult to stop him/her? No. So we rule out the physical excuse.
What’s left is psychological.
Perhaps we fear that by breaking the rhythm of a girl in motion we are somehow intruding into her space, and will therefore be met with rejection?
The first part of this frame of mind is definitely true: by stopping a moving girl we definitely break her rhythm, and enter her space in a way she does not expect.
But anyone who has experience stopping moving sets, or any other sets, will realize that breaking a girl’s rhythm during approach often times IMPROVES your chances with her, as long as it is done in a non-threatening way.
This is because such an approach demonstrates DOMINANCE of the frame of interaction, which we all know is one of the triggers of ATTRACTION.
So you see that what makes the moving set approach seem more difficult is actually the same thing that makes it more impactful. Let it work in your favor!
Here's How You Can Increase Your Chances Of Engaging Women That Are Moving.
Let's review the basics of doing a direct approach, with particular emphasis on their application to moving sets.
First, smile.
This cannot be over-emphasized, especially when it comes to stopping moving sets.
When first addressing her, you can say in a friendly tone, “Excuse me, I know this is random, but…” and deliver your opener. Just like for any other set.
Second, you must be physically comfortable with the act of engaging her.
For this, just imagine that you are stopping someone on the street to ask them directions or some other mundane reason. There would be no awkwardness then right?
When talking to her, you should plant yourself comfortably where you stand. And it helps to keep your hands where she can see them, to reinforce your non-threatening appearance.
Third, as with all approaches, opening a moving set often has to do with the timing of when she first notices you versus when you first make your approach.
The longer you wait, the more you seem like a stalker, and the lesser chance of success for what follows.
That having been said, moving sets give you a chance to have fun with some daring, high-risk high-reward approaches.
Some of the most well-received approaches I’ve done was when I approached women in the parking lot on their way to their car, stopping women who were actually driving, and stopping women who are exiting a store as I go in.
The common denominator to all these approaches is that your fast reaction time often conveys to the women a sense of honesty, and adventure, that never fails to sweep them off their feet.
